Celebration of the UNESCO World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, October 27

In collaboration with the Government of Macao, China, the International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication (CICT-ICFT) has organized on October 27 in Macao a celebration of the UNESCO World Day for Audiovisual Heritage to promote the free flow of ideas by word and image as a representation of our shared heritage and memory.

The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage aims to raise general awareness of the need for urgent measures to be taken. It also focuses on acknowledging the importance of audiovisual documents as an integral part of national identity.

Each year, the celebration centers around a specific theme and slogan, and takes place in various schools, universities, and heritage sites open to the public. The celebration comprises an opening ceremony, film screenings, and an academic seminar, with esteemed UNESCO experts such as Dr. Mounir Bouchenaki, advisor to the Director-General of UNESCO and former UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture, Dr. Doudou Diene, a key person in UNESCO’s Silk Road Programmes and instrumental in developing the Sustainable Tourism Strategy for the Silk Roads Heritage Corridors (UNESCO/UNWTO), Professor Beseat Kiflé Selassié, a special advisor to the Directors-General of UNESCO and former Director of Heritage of UNESCO…, as guest speakers for our seminars.
